MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL:

August 2008

We have had an excellent start to our 2008-2009 school year.  The students are in their new routines and learning is occurring everywhere at ECMS!

This year, students will be held accountable for documenting their own academic growth on various assessments and will use this data to set goals for increased positive performance.  Parents will assist with goal setting through participation in Student Led Conferences twice this school year.  We hope to promote more individual student accountability for academic growth as we continue to prepare them for leadership roles now and in the future.

Please join us for NIGHT ON THE TOWN - EAST CARY STYLE, on August 19, from 5:30-7:30.  Send in your money for the dinner catered by Ragazzi’s ($5.00 / plate) and reserve your learning stations by sending in your interest form that was sent home with students in Tracks 1 and 3 in the newsletter and to Track 4 as a separate flier. We would love to have 100% of our families join us for this special event.

JUNE 2008

Thank you to all students and parents for a wonderful year at East Cary!  Our inaugural year was one that will go down in history because of the hard working students, supportive parents, and terrific staff.  I couldn’t be prouder of all that has been accomplished this year!

We have watched the sixth graders grow to energetic seventh graders in a matter of one short year!  We have experienced their ups and downs academically and socially with them and have enjoyed coaching them to success.  We look forward to continuing to watch them flourish at East Cary for the next few years.

We are very excited to work with our new sixth grade class who will begin in a few weeks, or later (Track 4)!  We look forward to your active participation in learning and hope you will take advantage of the various clubs and social activities that will come your way.

The East Cary Middle School staff will continue to stress the positives – in behavior and academics through positive office referrals, Leadership Lunch, incentive give-a-ways, school dances, Field Day, and other fun activities. Strive for excellence in all that you do!

Together we will continue to “Educate Tomorrow’s Leaders”.
