Information and Resources

What We’re All About

The library media center offers resources and services to aid students and faculty at ECMS in their quest for information and knowledge!  The library media center houses a wealth of information which is accessible to all – students, faculty, staff and parents.

Together we can provide information, materials, and technology that will enhance the teaching and learning process.

Policies and Procedures

Round ‘n Round!  Let’s Circulate!

  1. Students may check out up to three books for a three week loan period.
  2. Students may check out some of the reference books at the end of the day for overnight.  (Some reference books do not leave the media center.)

Oops! My Books are Overdue!

  1. Student overdue charges -- $0.10 per day per book
  2.  Lost book -- $$ Cost of the book so we can replace it! $$

(No overdue charges will be assessed during track-out times.)

Surfing & Researching with Computers

Students may use the computer information stations to search for library books or to research topics on the available electronic databases and the Internet.

Please remind students that computers are for educational purposes only – no gaming, no chatting, no inappropriate surfing!

Students who misuse the Internet resources may lose their privileges to use technology and are subject to WCPSS policies and concerning this issue.

Activities & Reading Incentive Programs

Battle of the Books – Language arts teachers and the media specialist work with students to introduce the Battle Books.  A district wide competition is held in the spring with teams representing each middle school.

We’re Crazy About Reading – Watch the calendar and listen to the announcements for reading incentive programs throughout the year.  You may be “caught reading” one month.  You may get a chance to participate in a Reading Café.  It’s all about reading, reading, reading!

Holiday Book Fair and Spring Book Fair – During the first week in December, we hold the holiday book fair.  During National Library Month in April, we hold the spring book fair.  Both book fairs are through Scholastic.
