East Cary Middle School

The end of our 8th grade year is quickly approaching.  After this special year our children will be heading in different directions to various high schools around the area.  They have been a great class at East Cary and we are looking forward to honoring them during this special time.  The entire school community- parents, teachers and staff, are working hard to plan activities that the students will remember for years ahead.

Our first celebration will be the 8th grade dance on June 3rd.  A personal invitation will be sent to each student's home shortly.  Please remember this is 8th grade, not their senior year.  Activities and attire should reflect this (no formal dresses/tuxedos, no limos, etc).  The dress code for the dance is no jeans, nice shirts and pants for the guys and nice spring dresses for the girls.  WCPSS dress codes will apply- strapless and thin strapped dresses should be appropriately covered with a wrap or jacket.

We are also encouraging the students to attend with their friends.  Dates are fine but we want to make sure every student who wants to attend feels comfortable doing so.  The tickets for the dance will be $2.00 and will be sold during lunch time.  STUDENTS MUST PURCHASE A TICKET AHEAD OF THE DANCE.  No tickets will be sold at the door and only ECMS students will be allowed to attend.

There will be a dessert bar and water bottles at the dance.  To keep our cost down, we are asking for donations of food and water.  We have scheduled a DJ and a photo booth for the students to take pictures.  All pictures will go on-line after the dance and you will have a chance to order more pictures at that time.  Activities begin at 7PM.  The dance will end at 9PM. Please arrange for your child to be picked up promptly.  The dance will be held in the gym.   We are looking forward to a great night for the students.

Additional promotion celebrations are still being planned. Tracks will hold individual celebrations at school during the day.  Promotion celebrations will be held at 8AM on the last day of school, June 10th for Track 1 and June 30th for Tracks 3&4.   Further details will be on the web site and in future newsletters.
