WE at East Cary Middle School believe that attendance plays a crucial role in students' academic achievement.  The typical instructional day East Cary begins at 7:30am and ends at 2:15pm.  For a student to be counted present, he/she should attend at least half of the instructional day.

If your child is sick or unable to come to school, we encourage you to call the front office at (919) 466-4377 and leave a message as to the student's name, grade, track, and homeroom.  We will be glad to pass on the message to the homeroom teacher.  We will need a note from the parent when the child returns back to school.  A doctor's note is required in case of illness for more than 3 days in a row.

We will update parents with absence notification letters at regular intervals if the student is absent frequently.

Tardies PDF Print E-mail

Students are expected to be in class by 7:30am.  Students who arrive on campus after 7:30am will receive a tardy note from the front office.  Students who are tardy due to medical appointments should get a doctor's note in order to be excused.  Only students who arrive before 11:00am will be treated as present for the day.

Excessive tardiness leads to a significant loss of instructional time.  When a student arrives late to class, it is a disruption to the learning environment for that student, the teacher, and the rest of the class.  Please make every effort to have your child to school on time.
