WE at East Cary Middle School believe that attendance plays a crucial role in students' academic achievement. The typical instructional day East Cary begins at 7:30am and ends at 2:15pm. For a student to be counted present, he/she should attend at least half of the instructional day. |

If your child is sick or unable to come to school, we encourage you to call the front office at (919) 466-4377 and leave a message as to the student's name, grade, track, and homeroom. We will be glad to pass on the message to the homeroom teacher. We will need a note from the parent when the child returns back to school. A doctor's note is required in case of illness for more than 3 days in a row.
We will update parents with absence notification letters at regular intervals if the student is absent frequently. |

Students are expected to be in class by 7:30am. Students who arrive on campus after 7:30am will receive a tardy note from the front office. Students who are tardy due to medical appointments should get a doctor's note in order to be excused. Only students who arrive before 11:00am will be treated as present for the day.
Excessive tardiness leads to a significant loss of instructional time. When a student arrives late to class, it is a disruption to the learning environment for that student, the teacher, and the rest of the class. Please make every effort to have your child to school on time. |
